Re: New Article: Frank the Tank and Other Draft Day Observations
Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports Pittsburgh Steelers RB Frank Summers believes he is a perfect fit for the team's physical style. "I don't think I could fit any better than on any other team in the league. With Pittsburgh's physical play and my physical style, we go hand in hand," Summers said.

Good piece. I especially like the segment on the "Dirty" Sanchez overexposure.
I agree that Summers poses a lot of potential to contribute. His mindset and work ethic should fit right in on this team. Nice to see a guy who loves physical play and will bust his ass no matter what. The other guys on this team who do that -- Harrison, Hines, etc. -- are what makes it great.

Great stuff. Especially critique of homoerotic ESPN.
I hope that Tomlin gives this guy a shot to be the short-yardage back immediately rather than 8 games after Parker shows he cannot get the job done. I was sickened this past year that our 3rd and 2-3 yards formation was constantly shotgun. It is largely our offensive line, but Russell showed that even with poor blocking, a tough runner can garner 2-3 yards.

Nicely done. Methinks Summers may be the gem of the '09 draft; the club has needed a hammer for a looooong time. Just wish they'd drafted another O-lineman.

Great read, excellent all the way around. What would it be like to see Wallace hold on to every punt / kick off he attemtps this pre season? If he's got some hands to go with that speed we might have just caught lightning in a bottle. But, we'll have to wait and see. Keeping my fingers crossed

I will believe the return game when I see it first hand. However, we did draft a guy that gives us hope. I just can not help but think back to willie Reid.
That said the more I read the more I like this draft class. No head cases, coachable guys who are humble and want to learn. I doubt all will stick but this is a class people can talk about 3-4 years from now. Like our 07 class (Timmons, Woodley, sepulveda, Gay) good haul for any draft.

Re: New Article: Frank the Tank and Other Draft Day Observations
Forgot to mention there is a great article on the Scout.com site where Mitchell (DL coach) is talking about Hood and how all he needs is coached.
He will be the typical draft choice. Will not see the field much this year. Get ripped on boards for being a bust and in a couple of years he will be a rock on the line.
The Steelers don't have the sexiest drafts and thank goodness we don't.
Lets go get a ring for one of the finers we have left.

Good point about the shirtless, sweaty spandex shots. Maybe they figure if they show enough half-naked dudes, the girlfriends/wives watching will have a reason to not force their men to watch Liftetime TV.

Love this draft. Don't know much on Hood but rest of the show went well. All appear coachable, clean backgrounds. Speed with Wallace, lineman w/attitude and versatility. Wallace and Summers will be keys to draft. Just might start some drives beyond the 30 for a change. Return teams won't have to hold blocks as long waiting for the lumber trucks to get rolling. Just might reduce holding calls and clips, ya think?
